Firesites are an indie / synth-pop / rock outfit from Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. Starting out as a solo project, frontman Tom Waterworth has independently written and produced all of Firesites’ recorded music, including Transistor EP and his debut album, The Sun. This 2020 release – alongside DIY music video for its lead single ‘Chemicals’ – saw a lot of positive coverage for Firesites, including support and airplay from BBC Introducing. Waterworth has since teamed up with Newcastle-based musicians Sean Williams, James Cuxson, Tom Furniss and Crissi Rodriguez-Booth to take Firesites into a live setting. The band bring a dynamic blend of psychedelia, heavy rock and glitchy electronic music to the stage, utilising an amalgamation of live-electronics and conventional band performance elements.
The COVID-19 lockdown provided Firesites with several opportunities to collaborate with international artists online, on projects such as Gardenhead Records’ Pandemic Artist Relief compilation, Fontana’s Boots and Cats EP, and WMBC’s Virtual Underground Online Music Festival. Since the reopening of music venues, the band have been getting back on Newcastle’s stages, crafting their live set and honing in on some new sounds. Firesites next single ‘oceanpotion’ will be released on all major digital download and streaming platforms on 8th October 2021 with Almost Indie Records.
